The origin of Ear CandlingFor hundreds of years the American Hopi Indian tribes have used the gentle art of ear candling to protect and cleanse their ears. The technique originated with the Egyptians (who apparently used reeds from the River Nile) and the Chinese have also used this method for centuries. How can ear candling benefit me or my family and friends? Ear candling is excellent in the treatment of nose and throat congestion,
sinusitis, headaches, TMJ pain, tinnitus (noise or ringing in the ears),
and otitis external/tropical ear. As well as: What is Ear Candling? Ear Candling is a natural way to clean out accumulated wax and white, flaky fungus from the ears. The accumulations withdrawn from your ears may be many months' even years old. Ear candles are a classic clearance therapy and can be used successfully for many problems in the ear and head area. The lymph system and metabolism can be favourably influenced by this intensive but pleasant and completely painless method of local heat application. Is Ear Candling really a safe practice? Yes, but Wellness Support Network prefers to use only BioSun Ear Candles which are crafted and imported from Germany. These candles have obtained the prestigious CE mark (93/42-EEC) for medical devices in Europe and no other ear candle in the world have this extraordinary level of certification. The BioSun Ear Candles are also a safe choice because they contain an exclusive cross-shaped barrier (filter), which prevents any liquid candle wax or excess condensate from entering the ear. This barrier is eco-friendly being made from environmentally compatible PE. This compliments the herbs contained in the candles that are made to the traditional Hopi Indian recipe. What do Ear Candles look like? They are like a thick straw made from organic linen with Indian medicinal herbs such as sage, St John's wart and chamomile, which are well known for their healing properties. The hollow fabric candles are stiffened with honey extract and pure bees wax. They have a red marker line on them to show where the filter is. How is the Ear Candling done? The client is questioned firstly regarding symptoms and the ears are examined using an otoscope. The client lies down on his/her side with their head on a pillow tilted slightly forward so that the auditory canal is vertical. The practitioner lights the ear candle and gently places the end into the outer ear with a gentle twisting movement so that it fits properly and no mist concentrate escapes. The practitioner holds the candle all the time between their thumb and forefinger and the candle is allowed to burn down to 1cm above the red line before it is extinguished in a bowl of water and the burnt end is cut off. The client often hears a pleasant crackling sound as the candle burns and the excess earwax and debris is vacuumed up into the candle. Following treatment the ears are re-examined for comparison and the client is shown the content of the candle. The practitioner will make recommendations accordingly. Does Ear Candling Hurt? Absolutely not! It is painless, harmless and a totally relaxing experience. If it weren't for the Intermittent crackling and hissing sounds - due to the burning of the wax and fungus being drawn up the chimney of the candle - you would never know that anything was happening in your ear. |
